 Facade
A hybrid construction of wooden columns in combination with pre-cast concrete spandrels clads the building and forms a representative face to the city. The concrete spandrels support the wooden floors of the workshop area and protect the inner wooden construction from the wheater. For the same reason the outer wooden columns are painted. The windows form an inner thermal barrier indepentendent of the external supporting structure.
Workshop Area
The workshop area is a flexible space free of columns, which stretches from the supporting facade to the inner concrete circulation core of the building. The floors are a hybrid wood-concrete construction, which allows for large spans with an economic use of the materials according to their strenghts. A hollow floor construction above the concrete slab allows for a free allocation of the technical supplies, according to the needs of the tenants
Core Zone
The concrete core zone between the workshop area and the inner street forms the backspin of the building. It integrates lifts and stairs, as well as the supply of all media such as water, heating, electricity and ventilation. At the same time it acts as a stiffening element to the wood construction guaranteeing safety in the case of an earthquake. It allows for a separation of all installations, so that they can easily be replaced whenever needed

Inner Street
A double helix ramp in the middle of the buildings allows to access all floors by car and to drive arround the great hall to give further flexibility to the uses of the workshop area. The street is cast with in-situ concrete, whereas the precast concrete spandrels of the great hall, as well as the precast girders between the great hall and the core zone act as formative guidance to the casting of the rather complex freeform.
Great Hall
The inner facade of the great hall is a variation of the exterior facade of the building. Wooden columns support precast concrete spandrels, which act as support and formwork to the in-situ concrete slab of the inner street. The wooden columns are lifted from the ground on concrete pedestals to protect them from the passing cars, and dirt and liquids from the workshops. The railings between the pedestals are made from precast concrete.
